What does it mean to practise the Law? Arguing all day isn’t it? Though this is not really the case, as our blog on the difference between academic and practical law explains, the capacity to put forward logically and reasonably sound and strong cases for either side of an issue is key to developing the skills a good Lawyer, whether academic or practising, requires. With this in mind, have a look at these three key debates in the news at the moment, on The Religious Freedom Restoration Act, on the impact of legal aid residence tests on a child’s international rights, and on the ongoing battle in France against the Muslim full-face veil – the niqab, which has recently been upheld by the European Court of Human Rights. Pick the side you don’t like. Argue that.
