There’s been excitement in the world of Physics this week as the go-ahead has been given to run the Jet experiment to maximum power – trying to set a new world record for nuclear fusion. The phenomenal potential for unlimited clean energy has been capped so far because the reactors have been unable to produce more energy than they consume, but all that is set to change. Ultimately, Jet is just a dress rehearsal for the Iter experiment, and it’s essential reading for Physicists, Natural Sciences and Geographers alike – and, after the EU approved the Horizon 20-20 Research Budget last November, it makes an interesting case study for students of European Politics as well.
